Sarbazan
Sarbazan (Soldiers) is a contemporary reinterpretation of the early Herat school of Persian miniature painting, which flourished during the reign of Shahrukh Timurid and Baysunghur Bahadur Khan—an era that produced masterpieces such as the Shahnameh of Baysunghur. While rooted in the stylistic elegance of this classical tradition, the artwork introduces a more abstract, introspective approach. It is entirely imagined rather than copied, emphasizing personal vision and creative reinterpretation.

To evoke the tactile and visual essence of ancient manuscripts, the piece is painted on cream-toned paper and intentionally shaped with irregular, torn-like edges. These distressed borders are not merely aesthetic choices—they are integral to the artwork’s concept, aiming to recreate the feeling of timeworn pages and fragmented history. The result is a richly layered work that bridges historical reverence with a contemporary artistic voice.
